Robbie has had a stressful day physically, but a good one.  They did another ‘cleanout’ on his back wound which went well.  He had to go the o.r. for that and will require it to be done another 1-2 times at least.  This means several more days in the hospital, but that’s ok since it will mean better long-term recovery for him.  Please keep praying for the wound to heal faster than they usually see.  He was finally ready to eat something tonight, so our friend Rob Robinson from Sunday school went and got him a Subway ham & cheese sandwich.  He was able to eat half of it and drink a big Pepsi.  He said it was the best meal he’s ever had!  I left him tonight ready to rest.  He is ready to get the show on the road and get well.

Specific prayer requests at this point are:

  • The wound – that the healing would progress faster than they are accustomed to seeing and that it will heal beautifully.
  • His lung capacity needs to regain strength.  He is working on breathing exercises in order to do this.  He really needs lung strength so that he will not continue to need oxygen.
  • For the other injuries to heal and mend without any complications.
  • We do thank the Lord for some good news regarding his kidney.  The injured kidney is functioning at 70% with 30% non-functioning.  The doctors are going to let it rest and see if it will repair itself (pray that it will) in order to regain function.  The other kidney was not hurt at all and it functioning at 100%.

Tonight our friends the Littles & Reids stopped by.  Michelle Reid bought an Elvis postcard – it is Elvis week here in Memphis, after all, and we are in the Elvis Presley Trauma Center.  She thought we would get a kick out of what Betsy has been telling people,  “My daddy broke his Elvis.”

Thank you for your continued prayers.  We are not out of the woods completely, but the path is bright.  Robbie wants you to know what it means to him that we are being prayed for so fervently and cared for so lovingly.   He is completely overwhelmed, as am I.  Soli Deo Gloria – To God Alone Be the Glory.

  4. Stacey,

I am so glad to read things are looking good. You and your family have been in our prayers everytime you cross our minds, which is frequent. I visited Central this am and talked to Nate a little bit. He seemed to be looking forward to Daddy being moved to St Bernards at some point so everyone could see him more regularly. I saw Betsy at the CHE picnic yesterday. She, of course displayed herself with her beautiful smile as she always does when I see her.

You must know how much you have inspired me through this. God is such an AMAZING God. I continue to pray for the items you have requested. But, I also include you in my prayers for continued strength and comfort that I know only our heavenly father can provide.

I will be sending food over to your Mom’s on Thursday this week to help with the kids. Any suggestions on their favorite dish would be great.

We love you guys and miss you. Please contact me anytime if I can do anything.

P.S. I will be coming to Memphis on Tuesday to see a friend. If someone would like to ride with me I can drop them off at the hospital. I would love to see you guys, but I will have the kids with me.

    Love,

    Wanda

  5. Robbie and Stacey,
We so missed you both in Sunday School this morning, but we heard about your progress. We are so glad that you are doing so well! The class shared many tears and laughs as we talked about you and we also talked about what an awesome God we serve. We want to come see you, but know you need your rest at this time. We continue to pray for your full recovery, Robbie, and strength and rest for you Stacey. We look forward to seeing you both soon. I have told many here, but I want you to know that if there is anything we can do, please let us know! 🙂
    Love,

  6. Stacey,

So happy to hear Robbie is doing good. We are all praying for you and your sweet family. Annika and Rykar pray for Mr. Robbie at every meal and bedtime and in the car.. whenever it crosses their mind (they just know it’s Betsy’s Daddy they are praying for, and they are great prayer warriors!)

You have a lot of people to lean on, just let us know when you need something.

God is good and it is evident in your strength!

  10. Hey, Stacey..I’m glad he is finally eating…It took me several days before I ate anything at all. After all he’s been through sometimes I guess appetite just isn’t at the top of the list…it sure wasn’t for me either. Tell him Crystal and I are praying for you both and the children too. We had to sneak Koby up there to see me, so I know its gotta be hard on them too. Thanks for the posting. We read it every day. Thinking of you all always…David and Crystal Hydrick.

  15. How so very special and wonderful you guys are and how thankful we are to have you in our lives and that God is taking such good care of Robbie and you right now. Tell Robbie that I know how uncertain he can feel at times about how the future will be, but I can, from my recent accident, tell him that God is in control and nothing suprises Him and God will answer prayer at every step of the healing procress. We love you!!

  18. Good morning Johnnson’s! Oh, Stacey, what a wonderful beginning to my week to see the progress that Robbie has made this weekend. We are having revival at church this week and one of the things Brother Compton has talked about is not letting our circumstances take our joy. What a blessing it is to see that despite what you and Robbie are going through, your JOY is shining through! God is getting so much GLORY through you two! Please know that you are in my continued prayers and will be. I loved the picture of you and Rob, how great it was to see you both!

    Love you!
