Robbie has had a stressful day physically, but a good one. They did another ‘cleanout’ on his back wound which went well. He had to go the o.r. for that and will require it to be done another 1-2 times at least. This means several more days in the hospital, but that’s ok since it will mean better long-term recovery for him. Please keep praying for the wound to heal faster than they usually see. He was finally ready to eat something tonight, so our friend Rob Robinson from Sunday school went and got him a Subway ham & cheese sandwich. He was able to eat half of it and drink a big Pepsi. He said it was the best meal he’s ever had! I left him tonight ready to rest. He is ready to get the show on the road and get well.
Specific prayer requests at this point are:
- The wound – that the healing would progress faster than they are accustomed to seeing and that it will heal beautifully.
- His lung capacity needs to regain strength. He is working on breathing exercises in order to do this. He really needs lung strength so that he will not continue to need oxygen.
- For the other injuries to heal and mend without any complications.
- We do thank the Lord for some good news regarding his kidney. The injured kidney is functioning at 70% with 30% non-functioning. The doctors are going to let it rest and see if it will repair itself (pray that it will) in order to regain function. The other kidney was not hurt at all and it functioning at 100%.
Tonight our friends the Littles & Reids stopped by. Michelle Reid bought an Elvis postcard – it is Elvis week here in Memphis, after all, and we are in the Elvis Presley Trauma Center. She thought we would get a kick out of what Betsy has been telling people, “My daddy broke his Elvis.”
Thank you for your continued prayers. We are not out of the woods completely, but the path is bright. Robbie wants you to know what it means to him that we are being prayed for so fervently and cared for so lovingly. He is completely overwhelmed, as am I. Soli Deo Gloria – To God Alone Be the Glory.
